Early Intensive Behavior Intervention (EIBI)

 

Early Intensive Behavior Intervention (EIBI) is intensive ABA services frequently used with young children (ages 2-5). Research shows that 40-50% of children with autism receiving ABA interventions at a young age can be successfully transitioned into regular education.

EIBI Services:

Ideal setting is clinic

  • After school, ½ day, and full day programs
  • Greater opportunities to focus on social and group responding skills

Can also be provided

  • In the client’s home
  • In the community (in after care programs, daycares, etc)

Services designed to:

  • Maximally prepare students for transition to school
  • Support school services in teaching students to learn at their potential and be independent in their daily environment
  • Teach students the skills they need to be successful in academic, social, community and vocational settings

EIBI services include:

Comprehensive Initial Assessment

-examples: VBMAPP, social skills evaluations, functional behavior assessments, language and academic assessments
-conducted by board certified and licensed professionals

Individualized Programming

-address student’s individual needs, parent concerns and goals
-support school goals
-boost existing areas of skill strengths

Ongoing Assessment and Evaluation

-data collected during each therapy session
-data based decisions about programming changes and additions

Programming Conducted in a Flexible Learning Environment

-Individual learning areas for distraction free zone or when working on a new skill
-Group instruction and social skills development
-Ability to modify setting, strategies and curriculum to promote success

Ongoing Training for Support staff, Parents, and Caregivers

-Classroom based instruction on autism and teaching children with autism
-Training on managing behavior problems, Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Plan Development
-Community and home support and consultation
